June the 19th marks the first anniversary of FINN – the Farnborough International News Network. When we launched the channel last year our aim was to create a ‘one-stop digital hub for the aviation community to access insight, analysis and opinion from industry leaders and influencers.
Our ethos has always been ‘for the industry, by the industry’ and we've walked the length of breadth of every exhibition hall at eleven aerospace trade shows, gathering stories from across the industry. We’ve reported from Singapore, Dubai and Germany covering issues from international trade to the passenger experience. We've filed more than 200 pieces of original content which has seen over 100,000 YouTube views.
Under the editorship of leading industry journalist, Alan Peaford, FINN has become a trusted source of insight and opinion. So much so that it has been nominated for the Innovation in Aerospace Journalism and Publishing Award at this year’s Aerospace Media Awards.
We are really excited that FINN’s brand of intelligent insight is coming to the Farnborough International Airshow. Under the banner of the FINN Sessions, it has brought together some of the industry’s leading experts to analyse some of the major topics currently impacting the industry. The list of speakers is impressive, from government ministers to leading industry thinkers, discussing topics from Brexit and flying cars to UAVs and the Mars mission.
The aerospace industry is on the cusp of a technological shift with the fourth industrial revolution looking set to transform aerospace manufacturing. We've christened it Aerospace 4.0 and alongside the dedicated exhibit at the show, the FINN Sessions will also provide an opportunity to explore the subject looking at big data, blockchain, cyber-security, robotics and human capital.
As organisers of the Farnborough International Airshow, we are delighted that our expertise at bringing industry-relevant content to the show has transferred so well to a 365-day opportunity. Long may it continue.
