A career like no other at Airbus
Airbus Commercial Aircraft, Airbus Helicopters and Airbus Defence & Space offer a range of
opportunities in aerospace for GenZ to develop competencies in various divisions. Digital
transformation will continue to be a key focus for Airbus in 2025. The adoption of advanced
technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data analytics, and cloud computing will
enable more efficient operations, predictive maintenance, and improved decision-making. The
digital teams at Airbus foster digital innovation across Airbus' industrial ecosystem and its
products and services portfolio, accelerating data analytics, artificial intelligence, automation
and services for customers as well as digital security for the Company. Cooperation across
Airbus functions company-wide in order to continue the successful deployment of the Digital
Design, Manufacturing & Services (DDMS) programme, established to enable co-design
capabilities and digital continuity system-wide is of utmost importance.
While the main objective is to pioneer sustainable aerospace for a safe and united world, roles
can change technically from working on aircrafts to helicopters and data satellites. GenZ will
make up 27% of the workforce in 2025. Our Talent Acquisition Partners root their mission in
igniting the passion of each candidate in the right position. We pride ourselves to leverage the
latest technologies to onboard early careers as smoothly as possible. Our robust internal
mobility program favours versatility by empowering younger generations in activating their
transferable skills.
From internships, to apprenticeships and graduate programmes, we offer a range of options to
help younger generations launch their career in the exciting world of aerospace. The Airbus
Global Graduate Programme (AGGP) sees graduates joining teams around the world. This
programme aims to help them take flight with their career, joining on a development pathway
that will assist their growth into skilled positions that are strategically important. AGGP allows
graduates to spend the first 6 months within their home department. They can then move to
other departments to broaden their panel of skills to support their home department in long term
development. It represents the perfect opportunity to be part of a global community brought
together once a year for a graduate conference to meet your peers, hear from our leaders and
learn from the best.
More than 3000 apprentices study while building experience in the field at Airbus. When
entering the Airbus apprenticeship programme in either engineering, manufacturing or a field of
business, they earn a salary, benefit from training, and obtain an academic or vocational
qualification. Alternatively, the Volunteer for International Experience (VIE) scheme allows young
Europeans under 28 years old to gain valuable, paid work experience internationally, by working
abroad for up to two years. Thanks to Airbus 180 locations worldwide setting up the perfect
playground for VIEs. For the most ambitious ones, earning a PhD in aerospace engineering at
Airbus puts the student in an elite category of qualified candidates. It gives them the tools,
facilities and support to lead independent research and advance their professional capabilities
into the technology and the science of aircraft and spacecraft. Motivated candidates can apply
for the PhD in aerospace engineering with a bachelor’s or master’s degree, with the bachelor’s
degree requiring a longer course of study to completion of the PhD degree.
Every year Airbus welcomes placement students across the UK - including Stevenage,
Portsmouth and Newport for Defence and Space; London, Filton (Bristol) and Broughton
(Chester) for Commercial Aircraft. We offer opportunities in over 16 disciplines. Students benefit
from a competitive salary, 25 days of annual leave + bank holidays, and get flexible working
hours. Industry placement helps to better understand how each business area contributes to our
vision of being pioneers in sustainable aerospace for the future. Our placements give crucial
industry experience whilst allowing students to put their theoretical knowledge into practice. By
making the most of the skills and experience, they can improve their chances of landing their
ideal job in our global graduate programme!
Being aware of the dynamics of the labour market, at Airbus we encourage students to achieve
innovation through international competitions. Opened to university students, the Fly Your Ideas
Challenge encourages students to activate their pioneering spirit and innovate for the future of
aerospace. Since its launch by Airbus in 2008 and the signing of a partnership agreement with
UNESCO in 2012, over 22,000 students have registered for Fly Your Ideas from over 700
universities and 100 countries worldwide, with more than 500 Airbus employees contributing
their mentorship and expertise to support the competition. With support from Airbus experts, we
want teams to tackle global challenges to create a safer, cleaner and better-connected world. In
teams of 3, students tackle genuine key aerospace challenges by proposing their unique
solutions using their latest academic knowledge. Airbus sets three key challenges addressing
Sustainability, Artificial Intelligence, and Business Modelling. Participants learn new skills, grow
their network and enhance their current and future employability. Teamwork, innovation and
knowledge sharing are at the core of the challenge.
This year over 213 teams across 60 universities and 5 countries have registered. The top 2
teams will participate in the finals at Farnborough International Airshow. EcoVion from Ecole
Nationale de l'Aviation Civile, Toulouse and Drone Pre Check Flight (DPCF) from the Technical
University of Munich will present their final project in front of judges Professor Iain Gray from
Cranfield university and Joris Melkert from TU Delft university.
Airbus keeps doors wide opened for early careers to help them spread their wings and fly high
in their professional life. Join us @airbuscareers!
