Farnborough International Looks to Grow Chinese Participation at FIA18

Our Commercial Director, Amanda Stainer and China Business Development Manager, Jenny Du will be attending the Zhuhai Airshow this week to meet with Chinese aerospace businesses to encourage participation at the Farnborough International Airshow 2018.

The 2016 edition of the show saw its largest participation to date with a dedicated Chinese pavilion representing a 103% increase in footprint and a 98% increase in spend compared to the 2014 show.

Chinese companies that participated included Avichina Industry & Technology Co Ltd, Aviage Systems, Western Superconducting Technologies Co Ltd, China Aviation Industrial Base, China Aviation News, China General Aviation Industry, Baoji Titanium Industry, Shaanxi China Aero Industry Gas Spring Ltd, Tipro International Co Ltd, Wuxi Turbine Blade Co Ltd and COMAC.

Furthermore, the show was attended by a large contingent of Chinese senior businessmen and government officials including Mr Yonglin Fu, Deputy Mayor of Chengdu and Mr Xu Jin, Minister Counsellor, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, UK.

On day one of the show, in conjunction with the Chengdu High-Tech Zone and the EU Project Innovation Centre, Farnborough International also hosted the One Belt One Sky Seminar with the objective to demonstrate the development prospects and investment opportunities of the aerospace industry in Chengdu, promote communication and cooperation between Chengdu’s aerospace industry and leading global aviation manufacturing enterprises and introduce the Chengdu Tianfu International Airport Economic Zone.

Speaking about the show, Amanda Stainer said, “The increased Chinese participation at FIA16 reflects the growth of the Chinese aerospace industry and its willingness to trade on an international level. The Farnborough International Airshow prides itself on its strong international participation and saw over 70% of its exhibitors from overseas. Whilst in Zhuhai we hope to meet more Chinese businesses who wish to take advantage of FIA as a platform for global business.”
